I've really been pushing how amazing these dog are for nearly 15 years. Implementing a digital image to reach out to people and meeting and travelling to people in amazing places, which was made more challenging during the lockdown years. We came out of that lockdown in a completely different World, seeing Boreal pups across CANADA and in the US as well. 2 years ago I added 2 outside bloodlines to the program and those results have been amazing, bringing a more outgoing (towards strangers) personality while maintaining type.
But now, there are new standards set out by the US in crossing the border with pets. There is a different expectation from the perspective of potential owners and I want to ensure that I can offer what they want. That has been hard to do when I am constantly dealing with marketing and general care of the dogs.
So, I'm taking a break. Sort of. My goals, over this year, is to create a database where pups leave with a certificate of pedigree WITH photos. That pups are recorded in a database (possibly with the sport dog registry).
Many owners have tested their dogs through Embark and see where the algorithms put their pups genetics. Less than 7% German Shepherd, less than 10% herding dog, with higher percentages leaning towards Siberian and Malamutes. And let'snot forget the little bit of Spitz tossed in there :) And, wolfiness has been increasing. When dogs first started being tested, the percent's were very low-barely 1%. Now, pups are testing higher than 7% as they more become more consistent in their phenotype.
I have several females to retire, of which there are a few that have not had pups. They are sweethearts and would be an awesome addition to your home. And, they are priced quite low.
Who is taking this news the hardest? My son, who is 24 and autistic. He has been insisting I don't need a break (lol)...even sneaking Detour in while I was at work and adding 1 more litter to the list.
And, I will say, these Detour X Ari pups are FANCY. They're just 1 week so stay tuned.
It's not the end; it IS a break. And there will be some really awesome things to share when I start up again.
